At Awesome Games Done Quick, the charity video game speedrunning event that's being livestreamed all week, a speedrunner who goes by the name "Jackafur" pulled off a doubly impressive feat: He beat Treasure's Mischief Makers in a little over an hour in a 100 percent run and pulled off an effective marriage proposal during one of the game's cutscenes.
Jackafur, who speedruns Super Metroid, Metal Slug 3 and other games in addition to Mischief Makers (for which he holds a world record), sneaked his engagement to girlfriend Lilly (aka "Kittyrawr") onto the end of his Awesome Games Done Quick performance. The results are endearing and, based on the reaction of his fellow speedrunners in attendance, pretty amusing.
You can catch a replay of the proposal and Jackafur's Mischief Makers run in the Twitch archive or in the embedded YouTube recap below.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2015 continues through Saturday, Jan. 10. The event has already raised more than $500,000 in donations to benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The speedrun event's full schedule is available here.
