Evolve, the upcoming multiplayer shooter from Turtle Rock Studios, is ready for release, so Turtle Rock and publisher 2K Games are fulfilling a hair-raising promise, the studio announced today.
Numerous members of the Turtle Rock team agreed long ago to grow out their hair for charity, with the men declining to shave their beards and the women letting their hair go long. The studio pledged a $50 donation for each inch of hair grown until Evolve completed certification, which resulted in a tally of $11,375 for 227.5 total inches of hair. Publisher 2K matched the contribution for a combined donation of $22,750 to Child's Play. You can see a photo of some of the participating individuals below.

2K also released Evolve's opening cinematic alongside today's announcement. You can watch the clip above. Now that the full game is finished, Turtle Rock is shifting focus to the open beta that it's running later this month. The beta will go from Jan. 15-19, and Evolve itself will be available Feb. 10 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
