With just four months until the new X-Files airs on Fox, the network has begun amping up their promotional material for the series, including this stellar looking animated teaser.
The teaser, saturated in cool red and blue tones, offers a couple of throwbacks for fans of the original series, including a brief clip of The Smoking Man (William B. Davis) uttering, "They've re-opened the X-Files."
David Duchovny's iconic FBI Agent Fox Mulder also returns with a familiar line about what's really out there and the secrets being kept from the public.
"We must ask ourselves: 'Are we truly alone, or are we being lied to?'"
The teaser ends with Mulder asking his longtime partner and on and off again romantic interest Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) if she's ready for the upcoming case they're venturing off into to investigate.
"I don't think we have much choice," she whispers.
Show creator and executive producer Chris Carter has already confirmed that the new X-Files series will focus pretty heavily on the recent NSA leaks and Edward Snowden controversy, examining the new security world Mulder and Scully live in.
The X-Files premiere Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
