Nine million players made Star Wars Battlefront EA's most popular beta ever

That's a lot of thermal detonators

Star Wars Battlefront is a beautiful game that's riding the wave of enthusiasm about the upcoming film and renewed interest in Star Wars in general. The game's beta was open to everyone who wanted to play on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC, and EA is reporting that the game has given them record numbers of players for the company.

"Yesterday, the Star Wars Battlefront beta surpassed a major milestone: more than nine million players logged in and played," the official blog post states. "That makes this the single largest beta in the history of EA. We could not be happier that so many of you wanted to come in to get a small taste of what our passionate team has been working on."

The game doesn't ship in North America until Nov. 17, and Europe will see the game on Nov. 19. That may not seem like much time, but EA and DICE now have mountains of player data and feedback to sift through, and at least some time to tweak the game based on the beta.

"Even more importantly than just showing up, you’ve been spending a lot of time playing, having a great time and leaving us some invaluable feedback, as we continue to tune and balance the game," the post states.

You can read our thoughts on the beta, as well as explore my inability to tell if the danged thing is any good, even as I was having fun with the included content.
