Just days after a rumor ran rampant in the Hollywood blog-o-sphere that Mark Ruffalo's Hulk would be joining Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok, more information has been released detailing their exact relationship in the film and noting another Marvel character that may finally be introduced.
According to Birth Movies Death, the two will take a "cosmic road trip" together through an apocalyptic world. If the image of the Hulk and Thor taking a "road trip" together brings a smile to your face, then Marvel's current plan of action is working. The film's script was allegedly so dark and grim that the studio hired Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows) as a secondary writer to try and lighten up the overall tone of the movie.
Using the Hulk and Thor — a duo that proved they have great chemistry in The Avengers films — as a comedic device may turn out to be the best way to combat the apparent gloomy backdrop.
Although if rumors are true, it won't just be the mighty Thor and Bruce Banner on this cosmic road trip. BMD also reports that during their travels, they'll run into the Valkyries, and more specifically, Marvel will use the opportunity to introduce audiences to the heroine, Valkyrie.
Also known as Brunnhilde, Valkyrie was first introduced to comic book readers in The Avengers as a member of the fighting team The Defenders. Not to mention (as BMD explains), Valkyrie also has a pretty rich history with Dr. Strange, one of the superheroes Marvel will explore next in their Cinematic Universe.
This is the perfect time for Marvel to introduce the new character with Netflix's Defenders series already on order and poised to start development in the near future. As former Marvel CEO and current COO Joe Quesada explained last April, the events that occur within The Defenders series will correlate to the events occurring in the Cinematic Universe.
The studio has yet to respond to the new rumors, but BMD's sources are usually pretty spot on.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to be released on July 28, 2017.
