Team Ninja's beach volleyball-themed spin-off for its Dead or Alive series is getting another entry, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, early next year. Today, we get our first look at that new PlayStation 4 game in action thanks to its debut trailer.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3's first gameplay footage offers a taste of tropical volleyball and the so-called "Butt Battle" mode in which, for some reason, two expert martial artists decide to settle their differences by knocking each other off of a pool float. Featured in the trailer are the game's two most popular fighters, Marie Rose and Honoka, who made their first appearance in Dead or Alive 5. Given the nature of Dead or Alive Xtreme games, the trailer might be considered NSFW.
Publisher Koei Tecmo plans to release versions of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in February. The game is currently slated for release only in Japan and other Asian territories. Team Ninja confirmed the title will support Sony's upcoming virtual reality headset, PlayStation VR, at Tokyo Game Show.
