Here's what Earth Defense Force 4.1 looks like running at 60fps

My high school memories of playing Earth Defense Force 2017 on Xbox 360 are mostly positive, but are marred by one major flaw: an absolutely atrocious framerate, especially in split-screen. The PS4-exclusive Earth Defense Force 4.1 has been primarily touted as a remastered version of last generation's Earth Defense Force 2025 expanded with "over 50%" more content than the original. Beyond the new content, though, the game has one major feather in its cap: for the first time, console players get the chance to play an EDF game at 1080p and 60 frames per second, and boy, what a difference it makes.

Above, watch 36 minutes of ant-shooting, mech-mounting and group-squatting in Earth Defense Force 4.1, all running at a glorious 60 frames per second.

Earth Defense Force 4.1 comes out this winter on the PlayStation 4. For more on the game, check out our hands-on preview from last year's Tokyo Game Show.
