Ratchet and Clank leaps to the big screen in first trailer

Of all the video game-to-film adaptations, Ratchet & Clank is the series that makes the most sense for a cinematic interpretation.

Its first official trailer, which is now available online and will show alongside this Friday's Goosebumps, confirms that the series loses nothing in its translation from the TV screen to the theater. You can watch it up top.

Ratchet & Clank appears to maintain the adventure franchise's delicate balance of humor and sci-fi action in its first preview. Keeping on Ratchet, Clank and Captain Qwark's voice actors should assuage any lingering fears that the movie might swing and miss at recreating the series' distinct tone.

Set for wide release on April 26, 2016, the film will also feature the voices of John Goodman, Paul Giamatti and Sylvester Stallone, each of whom take on key roles in the eponymous duo's origin story.

A game that works both as a new take on the first Ratchet & Clank as well as a companion to the film will launch on the PlayStation 4. We played through a level of it and had a good time. You can check that out below.
