Battleborn's beta test goes live Oct. 29 (correction)

Gearbox Software's next title, Battleborn, will be playable for a select few later this month, thanks to the game's upcoming closed technical test. On Oct. 29, Gearbox plans to hold the test on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One to "balance characters, stress servers, squash bugs and test the online infrastructure."

Interested players can register for Battleborn's closed technical test at the game's official website. Registering does not guarantee participation, publisher 2K Games warns, and it appears there are some pretty serious restrictions on what players are allowed to say about the beta. Participants won't be allowed to stream, take screenshots of or discuss Battleborn's technical test online, per a non-disclosure agreement.

Still, if you're interested primarily in playing Battleborn early, clear some hard drive space and make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements, just in case you get in.

October is a big month for betas, with Dark Souls 3Street Fighter 5 and Overwatch joining Battleborn in giving players a taste of 2016 games early.

Battleborn is slated to launch on Feb. 9, 2016.

Correction: An earlier version of this story included the incorrect release date for Battleborn.
