Batgirl to be voiced by Rosario Dawson in Lego Batman

The upcoming spinoff to Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's humongous success, The Lego Movie, has found its newest hero.

According to Variety, Rosario Dawson will voice Batgirl in the upcoming Lego Batman feature film, alongside Will Arnett (reprising his role as Batman), Michael Cera (voicing Robin) and Zach Galifianakas (tasked with the difficult duty of voicing the Joker in a post-Mark Hamill, post-Troy Baker world).

Dawson has voiced super heroines in the past, including Wonder Woman in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, but she's far more notable for her work in critically acclaimed films like Kids and genre favorites like Sin City.

The actress is currently playing Claire Temple in Netflix's Daredevil series, and will continue the role when she moves over to the streaming service's upcoming original show, Luke Cage.

Lego Batman, which is being directed by Chris McKay (Robot Chicken), is scheduled to be released on Feb. 10, 2017.
