Minimap is your daily audio tour through the world of video games, related technologies and pop culture like comics, movies and TV. And today, we're doing something for the very first time. We call it Worldmap.
Polygon Minimap's Worldmap Edition will air every Friday. In addition to the most interesting news of the day, it will include on-staff experts who not only talk about current events, but analyze and synthesize them.
Think of Worldmap as the director's commentary for Polygon.
Today, we're joined by Charlie Hall, who's been reporting on Fig for weeks. It's a new and potentially disruptive addition to the crowdfunding ecosystem that Kickstarter, well, kickstarted a few years ago. Charlie's the expert, and he's going to unfurl his knowledge to explain everything from who's involved to what millionaires and the SEC have to do with it and whether or not the first game funded is an unqualified success.
Then, Phil Kollar will debrief us on his recent trip to the very first TwitchCon. He'll tell us what it was like to be there, what made it significant and what the ramifications are when 20,000 streamers, Twitch celebrities and fans gather in San Francisco.
But before that, as always, there's the news. Here's what we're covering today:
