You'd be forgiven for not recognizing many of the characters in Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel – save for a few bigger names, most of the characters come from Japanese publisher Nitroplus' visual novels, very few of which have seen release in the West. Still, North American publisher XSEED hopes the game, which hit Japanese arcades back in April, will resonate with a Western audience on the back of the solid 2D-fighting fundamentals provided by developer EXAMU, also responsible for the Arcana Heart series.

Above, watch two characters you may very well recognize — Nitroplus mascot-turned-idol Super Sonico and Fate/stay night's Saber — duke it out at 60 frames per second in the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroes Infinite Duel is coming out this December in Japan and Winter 2016 in North America on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. For more on Nitroplus' visual novels, check out our feature highlighting some of the genre's most interesting gems.
