NHL 16 season simulation picks Anaheim Ducks to win the Stanley Cup

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

The results of EA Sports' annual simulation are in, and if NHL 16 is right, the Anaheim Ducks will win the Stanley Cup for the 2015-2016 NHL season.

The no-longer-mighty Ducks will triumph over the Montreal Canadiens in seven games, according to NHL 16.

Of course, EA's simulation with NHL 15 also predicted that the Ducks would win the Cup — defeating the New York Rangers in seven — and neither of those teams even made it to the Stanley Cup Final this past season. Suffice it to say that EA tends to have better luck predicting Super Bowl winners with the Madden NFL series.

You can see the full results of EA's NHL 16 season simulation, including a full playoff bracket and the recipients of all the year-end awards, on the game's website. For more on NHL 16, check out our review.
