Why Guitar Hero Live is the most surprising game I've played all year

Guitar Hero Live doesn't just do more things differently from its predecessors than I expected, it sticks the landing on almost every new thing it tries. The new guitar feels superb, and learning to play from scratch is a really rewarding process. The live-action presentation is absolutely bonkers, but what it lacks in immersion it more than makes up for in raw entertainment value. The always-streaming Guitar Hero TV component is infinitely digestible, with some slick progression hooks planted throughout.

Our review of Guitar Hero Live will be up shortly, but until then, you can hear more of my impressions in the video above, where Justin and I discuss which members of the fictional pop-punk band Yearbook Ghosts we have the biggest crushes on.
