Nike has made another prediction from Back to the Future Part 2 a reality.

Earlier today, Nike presented trilogy star Michael J. Fox with the first pair of self-lacing shoes to celebrate Back to the Future Day. The actor took to Twitter to show off just how the shoes work with an eight-second video of what happens when they're put on.

Although it doesn't look like much, if you pay close attention to the laces, you can seem them slowly flatten when Fox puts his foot in. The more interesting aspect to the shoe, however, is the sound it makes when the laces are tightening.

The shoes given to Fox came with a letter from Nike designer Tinker Hatfield who said that "although the project started as science fiction" they were proud to turn the concept into a reality.

The limited edition self-lacing shoes will be made available to purchase through a strict auction process with all profits being donated to Fox's Foundation for Parkinsons Research.

According to Nike's website, the official details for the auctions will be posted on its official Twitter account next spring.
