Bombshell from Interceptor and 3D Realms is the game that was Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction before it was snuffed out by legal action from Gearbox.
You can watch an abridged, seven-minute introduction to the game's early level in our video preview (above).
Bombshell stars Shelly Harrison, a character who was originally designed to appear alongside Duke Nukem, but now has her own game. She's a bomb disposal expert with a metal arm / weapon. In this top-down action shooter she is charged with rescuing the President of the United States from aliens.
Set over four alien worlds offering platforms, puzzles, environmental hazards and secret areas, she has access to two modes of firing, as well as plenty of upgrade options. Harrison can also throw bombs, execute grisly kills and pull special sliding-punching moves.
According to 3D Realms, the game is about 15-20 hours long and will be "mid-priced" when it comes out on Windows PC in November as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in early 2016.
