Nier sequel has a name and a new trailer

Fighting androids galore.

Nier, Square Enix's 2010 action role-playing game, has a follow-up, and that new game now has a title: Nier: Automata.

First revealed at E3 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, the Platinum Games-developed RPG just received a new trailer, courtesy of the PlayStation Blog. Making its debut at Paris Games Week, you can watch it above for a first in-game look.

The PlayStation Blog entry also includes details on the story and gameplay of Nier: Automata. The title, which producer Yosuke Saito told us at E3 was deliberately withheld until now in order to avoid spoiling the core storyline refers to the androids who inhabit the world of the game.

"The world that you see in Nier: Automata is one where androids and mechanized weapons clash in ferocious combat and deserted wasteland," the post reads. This setting will feature recognizable locales and faces to fans of the first Nier, as well.

Further details surrounding the game's playable character — whom the team insists is not female, despite her appearance — as well as the plot remain scarce.

A release date for Nier's PS4 debut has yet to be announced.
