Buy a qualifying PlayStation 4 console on Target's website now through this Saturday, Oct. 10, and you'll receive a $50 store gift card, according to the retailer, which has also removed an online listing saying that the PS4's base price will drop by $50.
Target's $50 gift card promotion applies to three flavors of the PS4:
- A white PS4 console and Destiny bundle
- A PS4 bundled with The Last of Us
- A PS4 bundled with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
Each bundle includes a 500 GB hard drive and retails for $399.99. The Destiny and Last of Us editions are available now. The $399.99 Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection version will be released alongside the game (itself a bundle that corrals the first three Uncharted games, video of which you can watch below) this Friday, Oct. 9.
Though the promotional image appears to have been removed, IGN reports that Target's website said that the PS4 would be receiving a $50 price drop.
Sony hasn't announced a discount for the PS4 in North America, though last month during the Tokyo Game Show, the console maker said it would drop the PS4's price in Japan by about $40 starting Oct. 1.
We've contacted Sony and Target for more information and will update this story with more information as we receive it.
Target's current deals are live just ahead of the holiday season, when retailers traditionally begin discounting games and hardware.
Console makers also tend to introduce new bundles, and the PS4 is no exception in 2015. Upcoming packages include Sony's first North American bundle with a 1 TB PS4 hard drive coupled with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and two Star Wars Battlefront bundles, including a limited edition Darth Vader-inspired console and DualShock 4 controller.
Last week, Microsoft announced Xbox One bundles that include a console with Rise of the Tomb Raider and a console with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay and Ori and the Blind Forest. Both include 1 TB hard drives and will retail for $399.
