Former Metroid Prime vets head back to space with Dead Star

Armature, the studio founded by members of the team behind Metroid Prime, revealed Dead Star as its next project.

Eyeing a release early next year on both PlayStation 4 and PC, Dead Star offers 10 vs. 10 multiplayer, as well as customizable spaceships in which you conduct battle along the edge of the universe. In its premiere trailer, above, colorful shooter gameplay is seen from a classic top-down view.

Exploration and matches will occur across procedurally-generated battlefields. On the game's website, the developer promises that "with every match, Dead Star creates new regions of space to explore ... you decide where the battle takes place."

This is the second project announced by the developer in the last six months. At E3 2015 in June, ReCore was announced during Microsoft's briefing. It will be an Xbox One exclusive.

Collaborating with Armature on that game is Comcept, the company founded by Mega Man's Keiji Inafune and best-known for Mighty No. 9.

You can watch the debut trailer for ReCore below. It will launch next spring.
