Trying to navigate the rigid structure of upper class society during the British Regency is difficult enough without having to thwart off hoards of starving zombies. But that's the exact predicament Jane Austen's most notorious character, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Bennet, finds herself in during the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies trailer.
The movie — based on the novel of the same name and written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) — pits the Bennet clan and their debutant friends against members of the walking dead that have invaded their countryside community.
The film has been in development limbo for six years, suffering through casting conflicts and various directors joining the project, only to leave just months later. The final version is now being directed by Burr Steers (17 Again, Charlie St. Cloud) and stars Lily James (Downton Abbey, Cinderella) in the main role.
Fans of the empowering Elizabeth Bennet will be happy to see that the character has only gotten more badass in the film, wielding a surprisingly wide array of weaponry in the short trailer as she clashes with the undead.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is scheduled to be released on Feb. 5, 2016. Watch the trailer below:
