Apple TV games: Seven games to get now

The Apple TV isn’t a video game console. Except when it is.

Less than two weeks since its release, and the tvOS app store is filling up with games. Early adopters have been treated to a steady drip of new releases. But are they any good?

We've corralled seven games — Alto's Adventure, Lightblade Academy, Galaxy on Fire: Manticore Rising, Rayman Adventures, Transistor, Lumino City and Xenowerk — and stitched them together in one video that'll show you everything you need to know about gaming on the new Apple TV in 1080p at 60fps.

Every one of them shows off something unique about the new Apple TV. Every one of them is proof that this is a viable alternative gaming console.

For more on the often surprising new Apple TV, be sure to read our coverage about what it gets right and wrong, how its best games show its potential and how Nintendo didn't create the next Wii, but Apple might have. There's plenty more in Polygon's Apple TV StoryStream, too — not to mention a feature on its most radical departure.

The next level of puzzles.

Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.
