The Fallout 4 collectors' edition is, by all accounts, a majestic thing. But when you get down to brass tacks (and as a scavenger of the wastes, boy could I use some brass tacks right now) that ornate Pip-Boy inside is just a $100 thing to hold your phone. Meanwhile, this simple little accessory from Nyko can save you plenty of hard earned caps.
We've written about the Nyko Smart Clip before. It has done an admirable job in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, guiding us through the rocky canyons of Afghanistan and the swampy grasslands along the border of Zaire. But it also works great for holding your phone in place while you noodle with the junk in your inventory. It's also not $250 on eBay. It's $9.99 on Amazon.
The biggest bonus? No sweaty wrist.
Available for both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, the Nyko Smart Clip has a few shortcomings, including some chintzy rubber bands. But if it falls apart on you, go buy three more. You'll still have enough money left over for the PC version of Fallout 4, where you can use an iPad for your second screen. Like an adult.
In case you're wondering, my iPhone 6 plus here is all decked out with a black Magpul case and gold metal thumbsticks, which I bought online and installed myself. Here's how.
