Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn isn't one to shy away from rumors when it comes to his films. He's done multiple Facebook question and answer events in the past with fans, and just last night, conducted a pretty lengthy Q&A over Twitter. One of the recurring questions Gunn received was in regards to an Easter egg hidden within the first movie that no one has yet to find.
"I have never knowingly lied to you guys about anything, and I swear I'm not lying to you now," Gunn said when asked if he was just trolling everyone. "Swear to God."
Gunn elaborated even further, confessing that he didn't even want people to find the Easter egg at this point and that he had no plans to ever reveal where or what it was. The director also answered one fan's question about whether or not there was a secret code to what Groot was saying.
"Only Vin Diesel and I have the special Groot script with translations of what he's saying," Gunn said.
He's currently working through pre-production plans for the sequel with plans to start shooting sometime early next year, but admitted that he wasn't sure if he was going to return for a third film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2017.
