Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow launching on 3DS eShop

Just in time for their 20th anniversary

Nintendo is bringing the first three Pokémon games — Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow — to the Nintendo 3DS eShop, it announced during today's Nintendo Direct presentation.

Digital download versions of the classic titles will be available on Feb. 27, 2016. That's the 20th anniversary of the original Japanese launch of the series on the original Game Boy.

The game will allow for trading between players using a wireless connection in lieu of the original link cable.

Nintendo did not confirm pricing for the re-released Pokémon games.
