Information about Star Wars: The Force Awakens has increased tenfold in the past couple of days, with the film's release just around the corner.
As new information becomes available, it seems harder to avoid any kind of spoiler — major or minor — leading up to it. If you're trying as hard as you can to avoid any details that may ruin the movie for you, consider this your official spoiler warning.
In his latest interview with Entertainment Weekly, director J.J. Abrams finally addresses the massive ship lurking in the background of the official poster that was revealed a couple of weeks ago. It is, in fact, another Death Star-like ship, but the destruction that its capable of inflicting upon entire planets far surpasses the original Imperial base.
"Starkiller Base is another step forward, technologically speaking, in terms of power," Abrams said.
Abrams wouldn't answer whether or not the name of the new base was in reference to Luke Skywalker's original name in creator George Lucas' first drafts for the film. He did, however, confirm that Kylo Ren and the First Order army would be far more menacing than Darth Vader and the Imperial troops ever were.
"Evil is like a drug. It takes more and more of it to have the same effect," Abrams said. "And I think the First Order is a really deadly drug."
It's already known that Kylo Ren has a connection of sorts to Darth Vader, although whether it's personal or not is still unclear.
From Abrams' tone, it's appears the First Order will be some of the more sadistically ambitious foes the Star Wars universe has ever seen.
The film his theaters on Dec. 18.
