Bubsy is planning a comeback, for some reason

Bubsy's fan rejoices

Bubsy, relic of a decade when every video game character had to be a market-tested mascot, is angling to make a return to the gaming scene via Steam Greenlight.

The Bubsy Two-Fur, according to a press release from current publisher Retroism and seen in the trailer up top, is a re-release of the bobcat's first two 2D platformers, Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and Bubsy 2. Assuming they make it out of the Greenlight stage, the games will be available for $4.99.

To accompany the Steam Greenlight projects, Retroism is launching the #SaveBubsy campaign in an effort to rally those who identify as fans of the character.

The Bubsy Two-Fur has a proposed release date of "late 2015." Voting is now open on Steam.

Bubsy's most recent adventure came courtesy of Arcane Kids, also known for Sonic Dreams Collection. You can try out 2013's Bubsy 3D: Bubsy Visits the James Turrell Retrospective for free right now.
