CBS is giving Supergirl a full season

Supergirl just got some super news.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS' superhero show has received an official full order for its first season with seven more episodes coming down the pipeline.

The series has been one of the more popular fall premieres, scoring 12.9 million viewers in its first month and making it the most watched debut of the season.

Although the show will only reach a total of 20 episodes — about two to four episodes less than what a normal full season consists of — it also premiered a month later than the majority of network shows.

CBS has yet to confirm or deny if it'll be renewing Supergirl for a second season, but considering how much they've invested into the show, it seems unlikely that it won't get picked up again.

It was recently reported that the show would finally be introducing Superman to audiences through a flashback sequence, but that probably won't happen until the show returns from its winter break.

Supergirl airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Be sure to catch up with all of Polygon's coverage of the series here.
