Bandai Namco files trademark for new Katamari

The wild and wonderful Katamari series might be getting a new entry: Tap My Katamari.

Bandai Namco registered the trademark earlier today, with a record of the filing popping up in the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market's database. A domain name featuring the title has also been registered, although it currently lacks content.

While there are no further details as to what the trademark pertains to, it wouldn't be out of left field to guess that Tap My Katamari is the franchise's next game.

The hard-to-classify series hasn't seen a new entry since 2012's Touch My Katamari, which launched on PlayStation Vita. We reviewed the game following its release.

Creator Keita Takahashi, who left the series after its second entry, We Love Katamari on PlayStation 2, has kept busy — he unveiled a trailer for his next project, Wattam, at E3 2015 in June. The PlayStation 4 title will arrive sometime in 2016.
