Two professional poker players will face off in Hearthstone at BlizzCon

Among other major events, this weekend's BlizzCon will be the home of the 2015 Hearthstone World Championship. But those Hearthstone champs won't be the only professional card-slingers in the spotlight.

According to a post on the official Hearthstone blog, Blizzard will host two special Hearthstone exhibition series during Blizzcon, as "a breather between the intense matches you are sure to witness" during the World Championship. The first exhibition match will feature Bertrand "ElkY" Grosspellier, a former professional StarCraft player who has now won the Triple Crown: European Poker Tour, World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour titles.

Facing Grosspellier will be Daniel Negreanu, a member of the Poker Hall of Fame who has won more tournament money playing poker than anyone else on record. He's also been named "player of the year" twice by World Series of Poker and once by World Poker Tour.

While these two are big shots in the world of their own card game, they're not totally clueless when it comes to Hearthstone. The blog post says that Grosspellier prefers to play as a Warlock, while Negreanu tends toward Mage. Their showdown will be live at BlizzCon at 2:45 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 6, and it will be streamed on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel.

In addition to the poker pro match, Blizzard will run a second, longer exhibition series featuring Challengestone, a popular player-run tournament where players are tasked with building decks on the fly using weird rules and variations. The Challengestone exhibition will begin at 3:30 p.m. PT with deckbuilding and semifinals. The finals will air at 7:45 p.m. PT.
