Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is still more than a year away, but casting rumors have already begun to spread around the internet like wildfire.
The most recent rumor is that Kurt Russell is being personally sought after by director James Gunn to play the father of Peter "Star-Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt).
According to The Wrap, although Russell hasn't officially been offered the role, serious negotiations are expected to start relatively soon, which makes sense considering how in demand Russell is as an actor and how close to pre-production Gunn and the crew are.
Russell most recently starred alongside Vin Diesel in Furious 7, and is currently doing press for his upcoming role in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.
With the original cast all on board to return for the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to hit theaters May 5, 2017.
