One of the most popular characters to emerge out of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a little droid who goes by the name BB-8.
Bill Hader, the comedian and actor who helped voice the tiny robot, recently broke down just how they came up the voice for the character.
"JJ fucking around with this sound effects app on his iPad that was attached to a talkbox operated by me," Hader told Hitfix. "It looked ridiculous, but it made BB-8's voice."
Hader added that it took a couple of run throughs before they got the voice they wanted for BB-8, explaining that the first time he tried to voice the droid, it came out sounding a little too human.
Hader was officially credited as a "BB-8 Vocal Consultant" for the film, but it appears his job went much further than that.
The Force Awakens opens everywhere this Friday.
