After the Star Trek Beyond trailer dropped, people couldn't stop themselves from jokingly comparing it to director Justin Lin's Fast and Furious movies.
While people were widely divided on how they felt about the trailer, one of the movie's main stars admitted that he wasn't a fan of what the marketing team had come up with.
Talking to Hey U Guys on the red carpet for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in London,England, Simon Pegg said that the trailer only showed one side of the movie in favor of appealing to a specific type of audience.
"I found it to be like the marketing team was saying, 'Everyone come and see this film. It's full of action and fun' when there's a lot more to it than that," Pegg said. "I didn't love it because I know there's a lot more to the film."
"There's a lot more character, a lot more story and lot more, what I could call, Star Trek stuff."
Pegg ended the interview by acknowledging that he realized the marketing team had to ensure they could bring in as many ticket buyers as possible, but told Star Trek fans to "hang in there, [and] be patient." Fans can also rest easy knowing that Lin and Pegg ignored everything that happened in the previous Star Trek installment, Into Darkness, and are essentially kickstarting the series again with Beyond.
Pegg will be reprising his role as Scotty, but he was also one of the lead writers on the film, too. Star Trek Beyond hits theaters July 22, 2016.
