Game of Thrones is the most pirated show of 2015

Surprising absolutely no one, television's most popular show has also become the most pirated series of the year.

According to TorrentFreak, Game of Thrones was downloaded an estimated 14.4 million times around the world. That's nearly double the record set by the show last year, when it was downloaded approximately 8 million times by people worldwide.

Still, despite Game of Thrones continuing its reign as the most pirated show on television, it hasn't affected the number of people watching the show live. According to HBO's most recent ratings, the season five finale of the show brought in 8.11 million viewers, which far surpasses the amount of people who watched the season four finale live.

TorrentFreak also released the data on which other nine shows made it into the most pirated category, with some surprising and some not-so-surprising titles.

The Walking Dead was the second most pirated show of the year, with an estimated 6.9 million downloads. More interesting is that the downloads only account for half of the show's audience, with AMC's record-breaking series pulling in approximately 15.7 million viewers when it aired live.

Other notable titles include The Big Bang Theory, which was downloaded an estimated 4.4 million times, and Mr. Robot, which was downloaded an estimated 3.5 million times.

The Flash, Arrow, Vikings, Supergirl, The Blacklist and Suits also made the list.
