The Game Awards 2015 Steam sale cuts prices on the nominees

In addition to presenting trophies to 2015's best games, The Game Awards will offer game discounts to viewers of the show with sales on Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Games Store, and some of the Steam discounts are already live.

The producers of The Game Awards are building on last year's Steam sale, which dropped prices on nominees for that year's awards. This time around, the sales will run for two days starting today, the day that The Game Awards 2015 will air live on the web. Discounted titles include some of the 2015 nominees, and viewers of the show will "be able to unlock those special offers" during the event, said producer Geoff Keighley in a YouTube video.

Here are some of the notable discounts: Rocket League (down 30 percent to $13.99), Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series (down 50 percent to $12.49), Her Story (down 40 percent to $3.59), Cibele (down 25 percent to $6.74), Axiom Verge (down 30 percent to $13.99), Mortal Kombat X (down 40 percent to $35.99) and NBA 2K16 (down 20 percent to $47.99).

The Game Awards 2015 will air at 9 p.m. ET tonight, live from the Microsoft Theater (formerly the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live) in downtown Los Angeles. The show will be livestreamed on the web, including on Polygon, as well as Twitch, YouTube, Steam, the PlayStation Network, Wii U, Xbox Live and Go90.
