Take a look at space empire builder Stellaris in action

Stellaris from Paradox begins with an exploratory race of beings on a single planet, expanding into a galactic game of empire building, conquest and maintenance.

It's a 4X game of strategy and diplomacy from Paradox, the maker of historical games like Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis 4. Players colonize planets, exploit resources and bring alien creatures or races into the fold, all the while choosing technologies, trading and keeping rivals at bay. Each game generates a new universe populated by differently distributed alien races.

In the video preview above, Polygon talks to Paradox's Henrik Fahraeus about Stellaris' aims and how it can combat common strategy game ailments, like end-game ennui. Stellaris is due to be released on Windows PC in 2016.
