The first photos from the set of Luke Cage have landed online, and they are full of spoilers.
No, seriously, there are so many spoilers. If you want to know as little as possible, turn back now.
The photos, which were published by Vulture earlier today, focus on one of the more dramatic scenes featuring Cage himself (played by Mike Colter), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and new character Detective Scarfe (Frank Whaley).
In the comics, Scarfe assisted Luke Cage (originally referred to as Power Man) and Iron Fist a number of times during his law enforcement career. Does this mean that Scarfe will act as the bridge between the upcoming Iron Fist series and the rest of the universe (much like Claire)? That's up for debate, but it's a pretty good indicator of how Marvel is going to intertwine its new streaming universe.
There's no clue as to which episode the team was filming when the photographs were taken, but considering the captions describe the scene as the death of Detective Scarfe, it's probably close to the end of the show's first season, if not the finale.
Not to mention that according to Whaley's IMDB page, the actor is supposed to appear in all 13 episodes of Netflix's newest original series.
There's no inclination as to what preceded the scene when the shots were snapped, but based on the photos, it looks like Scarfe was either stabbed or shot during a scuffle and managed to make it out of the immediate area with help from Claire before lying down on the streets of New York City and succumbing to his injuries. In the comics, Scarfe does get injured, but he manages to survive his injuries thanks to Claire's help. Looks like that won't be the case here.
Luke Cage is still in production, but the show is scheduled to be released in 2016. It'll be the third series co-produced by Marvel and Netflix following Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
