The Walking Dead: Michonne's first episode premieres in February 2016

The Walking Dead: Michonne will debut next February, developer Telltale Games announced tonight with a trailer at The Game Awards 2015.

That's a bit of a delay — Telltale originally announced the three-episode miniseries during E3 this year, and said at the time that it planned to launch the premiere this fall.

Samira Wiley, best known for her role on Orange is the New Black, will star as the title character, who is a fan favorite from Robert Kirman's Walking Dead comics. The Walking Dead: Michonne takes place between issues #126 and #139 of the comics.

Telltale says its game will explore "what took her away from Rick, Ezekiel, and the rest of her trusted group... and what brought her back." The Walking Dead: Michonne is meant to further tie together Telltale's Walking Dead games. The studio previously released The Walking Dead: 400 Days, an interstitial between season 1 and season 2. A third season is on the way, but Telltale hasn't given any release window for it.

The Walking Dead: Michonne will be available on Android, iOS, Mac, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For more, check out the trailer above.
