Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani lands Judd Apatow as producer on new film

Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani's newest feature project is officially moving forward with Judd Apatow on board to produce.

The comedy, which Najiani wrote with his podcast co-host and wife Emily Gordon, will be based on actual events that have happened in their life, according to Deadline. Although there aren't too many details surrounding the project, called The Big Sick, Nanjiani is confirmed to star. Michael Showalter, most famous for his role as Coop in Wet Hot American Summer, has signed on to direct the feature.

While Nanjiani is most notable for his work on HBO's niche comedy, the actor's also appeared in a variety of major films including Sex Tape and Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Gordon, most known for her work on gaming podcast The Indoor Kids, most recently released her first book, Super You: Release Your Inner Superhero, and acts as an executive producer on HBO's The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail.

There is currently no estimated release date for the project, but Nanjiani is currently working on production for the third season of Silicon Valley.
