First trailer for Spielberg's The BFG features neither Doom nor Quake

Don't gobblefunk around with giant guns

Disney has just released the first trailer for Steven Spielberg's The BFG, a fun-for-the-whole-family film centered on the beloved, demon-melting plasma cannon of Doom and Quake fame. Bizarrely, this first look at the film features not a single nod to the classic FPS franchises. Instead it depicts a young girl getting abducted from her orphanage by an absurdly large man. (Perhaps it's an anthropomorphized representation of the titular Big F**cking Gun? A bold choice, to be sure.)

If we didn't know better, we'd assume The BFG had nothing to do with the classic id Software weapon and was instead based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name. But that's a book, and who'd want to see a movie about a book when they could see one about a gun? Nobody, that's who.
