Toho is releasing a new Godzilla movie in Japan next year, and this one comes from the man best known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hideaki Anno. A brief teaser for the film, Godzilla Resurgence, offers a taste of what fans of the 60-year-old movie franchise can expect: panicked Japanese citizens running in fear from giant monsters.

We don't actually see any of those giant monsters in Godzilla Resurgence's first teaser, but that's not uncommon for giant monster movie trailers. The teaser seems to imply that the 2016 Godzilla film might take a found footage, Cloverfield-style approach to the property.

Anno wrote the screenplay for Godzilla Resurgence, which he's co-directing with Shinji Higuchi, a special effects supervisor. Higuchi also worked on Evangelion and several live-action Gamera films.
