Tekken 7’s opening cinematic is a lava-filled, head-butting slugfest with forehead lasers

Sometimes, fighting isn’t enough. Tekken 7 fighters Heihachi Mishima and Kazuya Mishima know this. After 21 years of battle, you realize you’re on your 10th game, and you need something new. Sometimes, you have to climb to the top of an erupting volcano and duke it out with forehead lasers.

That’s where the opening cinematic of Tekken 7 takes us. Press play above to watch the upcoming fighting game’s introductory video, which was released this week on the Tekken YouTube channel.

Announced last June, Tekken 7 is being developed in Unreal Engine 4 and is scheduled for a Japanese arcade release this year. For more on what to expect — including its roster and special attacks — check out our detailed overview. You can also read about a new feature that allows both players to fight on the left (or right) of the screen.
