Turkish authorities raise concerns about Minecraft violence

The Turkish government is concerned about the effects of fantasy violence in Minecraft, according to a BBC report, and has ordered an inquiry.

According to the BBC translation of a report in Haberturk, Turkey's family and social policies minister Aysenur Islam has ordered an investigation into suggestions that Minecraft promotes aggression.

In Europe and the United States, the game is rated as appropriate for children of elementary school age and above. Minecraft, primarily a construction game, includes low-level fantasy combat. It is popular with millions of children and adults around the world.

According to a report on Turkish site Leadergamer, the Turkish authorities are worried that Minecraft sends a message to children that hitting animals and people is fine.
