World of Warcraft's charity pet raises $1.9M for Ebola relief in Africa

World of Warcraft's recent charity pet, the space goat named Argi, helped raise more than $1.9 million in donations to help fight Ebola over the holidays, Blizzard said today.

During the month of December, Blizzard donated 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of Argi to the American Red Cross to support ongoing Ebola relief efforts in Africa. The charity pet carries a $10 "adoption fee" and is still available for purchase, though sales are no longer earmarked for charitable purposes. Argi serves as both a cute sidekick and an ally who can partake in pet battles.

Blizzard announced last year's charity pet for World of Warcraft at BlizzCon 2014.

Previous WoW charity pets have been sold to help raise money for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
