PlayStation 4 shoot 'em up Resogun will get a new expansion, Resogun Defenders, next week, developer Housemarque and Sony XDEV confirmed today. The expansion will introduce two new game modes: Protector and Commando.
Protector is described as a defense of one of the last remaining human colonies. It includes a handful of new power-ups, including a Super Boost and Teleport move. Players need to rescue humans and deliver them to a city stronghold. It looks more inline with standard Resogun gameplay than Resogun Defenders other new mode.
Commando is something like Resogun's take on Missile Command. Players assume control of a lone human, instead of a ship, who must fend of waves of enemies and objects that fall from the sky. Players can equip their human with bandanas that grant some attack modifiers and upgrade their comparatively weak gun by gathering power-ups. The mode was available to play at Sony's PlayStation Experience last year and is a highly addictive new addition to Resogun.
Resogun Defenders costs $4.99 and is part of the game's season pass. It will hit PS4 on Feb. 17.
Housemarque is also releasing a new update for Resogun called Resogun Challengers. It's free and adds a fresh batch of challenges and feats to the game, giving players new reasons to return to the game. Today's update also adds a new photo mode and a Human Gallery, so players can keep track of the various characters they've rescued in the game.
