While many hardcore fans are desperately waiting for more info on Shin Megami Tensei spin-off Persona 5 after its incredibly stylish trailer, that's not the game Atlus wants to talk about today.
Instead, the publisher has released the above story trailer for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker. The name is a mouthful, but here's what you need to know:
It's a remake
Record Breaker is a 3DS reimagining of the 2012 Devil Survivor 2, which came out on the original DS.
It's got a ton of new content
As with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, the 3DS remake of the first Devil Survivor, Record Breaker is more than just a nicer-looking version of the game for fancy new hardware. The original game is here in its complete form, but it's been upgraded with full voice acting throughout. Meanwhile, for those who have already played the original game, there's a new second story to play through.
In the original story of Devil Survivor 2, a group of Japanese teenagers find their existence endangered when our world is suddenly invaded by demons. Without spoiling the ending, the heroes eventually overcome the bad guys and reset time to the point when the invasion started. Record Breaker's new story will pick up here, revealing that things do not go as planned.
An Atlus representative has told Polygon that the new content makes up as much as 40 percent of the total package in Record Breaker. Considering the original game already took 30 to 40 hours to finish on the low end, that's definitely not a skimpy package.
It comes out on May 5, 2015
You can see the date reveal for yourself in the short trailer above.
