Morena Baccarin, the actress whose credits include Firefly, Gotham, Homeland and V, has been cast as the female lead in Twentieth Century Fox’s Deadpool movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The publication says she’ll portray Deadpool’s love interest. Ryan Reynolds was confirmed to play Marvel's wisecracking superhero last December. Reynolds’ involvement came after months of rumors and a leaked screen test.
Tim Miller, whose credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, is tapped to direct the movie, which is scheduled for a Feb. 12, 2016 release.
Deadpool is one of several Marvel properties whose movie rights are controlled by other companies, thanks to deals signed before Marvel became a movie-making powerhouse. Those include the Fantastic Four, Spider Man and X-Men franchises. Marvel and Sony Pictures, the latter of which has held the rights to the web-slinging superhero since 1999, announced earlier this month that Spider-Man would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
