Nintendo drops the price of three amiibo

While some of Nintendo's amiibo figures are incredibly hard to find, either because they're under-shipped compared to others or part of a retailer-exclusive deal, others are more than readily available. And it looks like some of the characters in ample supply are getting a price drop to help them vacate store shelves a little faster.

Nintendo recently dropped the suggested retail price of a trio of its Super Smash Bros. amiibo: Peach, Donkey Kong and Yoshi. They're now listed at $9.99, down from the original $12.99 asking price. Those characters ranked in the bottom half of the top 10 best-selling amiibo in North America, according to a recent investor presentation from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

New versions of Peach and Yoshi amiibo are coming to stores next month alongside the release of Mario Party 10 for Wii U.

Nintendo said it shipped more than 5.7 million amiibo toys last year. Hopefully the price drop on Peach, D.K. and Yoshi clears some space for a few Villagers and Marths.
