Watch 15 minutes of interstellar strategy in Sid Meier's Starships

Sid Meier's Starships is a wild departure from the Civilization series from whence it sprung. Its mechanics are all streamlined versions of their counterparts in Firaxis' long-running strategy series, and understanding all those changes can be tricky. In the 15-minute video above, we break down the flow of the upcoming PC and iOS game, showing how to turn your formless lumps of space-clay into deadly dreadnoughts and sneaky recon ships, and completing a few missions to expand our boundless galactic empire.

For more thoughts on Starships, as well as a few details on how it blends influences from Civilization, XCOM and tabletop miniature games, check out our written preview, posted earlier this morning.

Correction: An earlier version of this video suggested there would be a multiplayer mode in Sid Meier's Starships, which is inaccurate. We have updated the video to reflect the correct information, and apologize for the error.
