Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin trailer shows what's changing in Dark Souls 2

A new trailer for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, Namco Bandai's re-release of Dark Souls 2 and its three expansions, gives fans of the Souls series a taste of what's coming this April. From visual changes to new enemies (and old enemies showing up in unexpected places), there's a lot to see in Scholar of the First Sin.

Dark Souls 2 veterans will be familiar with much of the territory that Scholar of the First Sin's trailer covers. But some things are different; now it appears that a Pursuer will be placed alongside the pair of Ogres in the game's starting area, where players can switch their gender. It also looks like a Flexile Sentry is going to make the flooded area of Sinner's Rise a little more annoying for players.

More importantly, there also appears to be a new Black Phantom who might be the new NPC that From Software is adding to the game. He appears in multiple screenshots in different locations around Drangleic.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on April 7. That will be preceded by a sizeable update for the PS3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 versions of the original Dark Souls 2 that is scheduled for release this Thursday, Feb. 5.
