Watch 24 minutes of Xenoblade Chronicles X's open world and fantastical characters

Xenoblade Chronicles X's open world and otherworldly characters took center stage in a game-specific Nintendo broadcast today.

You can watch the 24-minute Japanese language livestream above for a showcase of strange alien companions and teams of heroes running through wide open landscapes. Xenoblade Chronicles X will arrive April 29 in Japan in retail stores, as a download and as part of a Wii U bundle. Those who pre-purchase the eShop version will be able to download the game early, so it will be ready to play at its release. Nintendo offered the same download-before-release option on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U last year.

The successor to Xenoblade Chronicles in development at Monolith Soft and received a 2015 release window just before E3 2014. Nintendo has been teasing the game since early 2013, when it was known as "X." The Japanese role-playing game will use a combat system based on Chronicles.
